WELCOME TO THE BYRDS NEST!

On January 20, 1965, Jim "Roger" McGuinn (guitar), Gene Clark (percussion), David Crosby (guitar), Chris Hillman (bass), and Michael Clarke (drums) stepped into Columbia Recording Studios in Hollywood to record their first albumn "Mr. Tambourine Man." As Rolling Stone writer David Fricke said, "But even now, over 30 years later, the album stands as an impeccably crafted declaration of talent, influence and intent..."
Influenced lyrically by Bob Dylan and musically by the Beatles, the Byrds proved that America could match and musically counter-attack the British Invasion. Armed with a 12-string Rickenbacher guitar, Roger McGuinn and the Byrds pioneered a new sound in rock music. The press referred to it as "folk-rock" but Dylan disagreed. He said it was "vision music." From Dylan's trippy "Mr. Tambourine Man" to the spiritual lyrics of "Turn!Turn!Turn!" the jingle-jangle of McGuinn's banjo type playing style, the masterful song writing of Gene Clark, and the beautiful harmonies of the Byrds will forever live in rock history at one of the most controversial times of the 20th Century: the 1960's.
